About Näringslivets Producentansvar
Näringslivets Producentansvar (Trade Association Packaging Producer Responsibility) is an approved producer responsibility organisation that helps you fulfil your producer responsibility for packaging. We don’t distribute profits, our focus is that you as a customer should receive as much recycling as possible for your packaging fee. We want to increase recycling throughout the chain – join us on the journey towards a more circular society.
We focus on circular material flows and traceable recycling
Our ambition is to offer all producers a sustainable and responsible service portfolio for all types of material covered by the ordinance. Through carefully selected suppliers of recycling services, such as Swedish Plastic Recycling, we want to drive development towards circular and traceable material recycling.
Our collaborations with contractors and suppliers are based on a well established infrastructure and long experience. Together we work to contribute to the Swedish material recycling targets, lower packaging volumes and reduced littering.
Our owners
Näringslivets Producentansvar is owned by five trade associations. The ownership aims to increase the benefits for the trade associations’ members by enabling both transparency and greater influence on the functionality and efficiency of producer responsibility in Sweden.
The producer responsibility for packaging is facing major changes, both nationally and within the EU, and places new and higher demands on producers. The goal is to achieve a higher degree of material recycling.
In order to meet the development, the industry organisations DLF Sweden, Swedish Food Retailers Federation, Swedish Trade Federation, the Swedish Brewers Association and the Spirit and Wine Suppliers Association decided to form a joint company – Näringslivets Producentansvar i Sverige AB.

Briefly about the producer responsibility in Sweden
The main purpose of the Packaging Regulation is to increase the material recycling of packaging, reduce the amount of packaging, and ensure that it is properly managed. All producers that place packaging on the Swedish market must be affiliated with a producer responsibility organisation approved by the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency.
Since 2024, Sweden’s municipalities have been responsible for the collection of packaging from households, and from 2027 all households must have access to curbside collection. Through their producer responsibility organisation, producers are responsible for financing the collection and material recycling of packaging.
