Axfood: ”We will get more packaging that can be recycled”
Axfood is one of Sweden's largest players in the grocery trade and for them, according to Åsa Domeij, sustainability manager at Axfood, there was no doubt that it was precisely NPA, which they would join.– NPA is a large, strong and, not least, serious actor who really wants to work with circularity seriously. It is our hope that NPA will become a leading force in material recycling and an important player against politics. They can also be a leading force and keep track of what is happening in other countries and learn from it.
What are your thoughts on the new regulation, what do you think it will lead to?
– We will get more packaging that can be recycled. In addition, I think we will get better at source sorting both in households and in our stores. The new legislation will also act as an incentive to reduce food waste so that we reach our target of halving it by 2025.
What concrete help do you at Axfood hope to get from NPA?
– We have raised an issue that we need to receive information on a detailed level about all the changes that are taking place, with Svensk Dagligvaruhandel, which is one of NPA’s owners. Therefore, we are currently planning seminars and webinars for the industry and hope to implement them together with the NPA.
