Annual reporting to the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency
Once a year, as a producer, you must report packaging volumes to the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency. If you are affiliated to us, we can manage the reporting for you via NPA’s customer portal.
In connection to the last reporting period of the year, you will find a pre-filled report in our customer portal containing the volumes you reported to us the previous year. By March each year, you need to log in to the customer portal, fill in the report and approve the volumes to be submitted to the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency.
Additional information in the report to the Swedish EPA
If you have any of the packaging listed below, you need to supplement the report to the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency with information about weight, specified per packaging material, before it is approved by you and submitted by the NPA.
- Consumer packaging
A packaging that, at the point of sale, constitutes a sales unit for the final user or consumer of the product. For example, the wrapper of a pack of chewing gum. - Composite packaging
A packaging made of two or more different materials that cannot be separated by hand. Report the individual materials by weight. Exceptions apply to materials that make up less than 5% of the total weight. - Reusable packaging
A reusable package is defined as a packaging designed, constructed, and placed on the market to be reused multiple times during its lifecycle. This is achieved by refilling or reusing it for the same purpose it was originally designed for. Specify the amount of reusable packaging that qualifies as consumer packaging. - Plastic bottles for beverages that are single-use plastic products
If you have sinlge-use plastic products and/or plastic carrier bags, the report must be supplemented with information on the number of these.
- Single-use plastic products in quantities:
- Food containers that are single-use plastic products
- Cups that are single-use plastic products
- Single-use plastic lids for cups
- Flexible wrappers
- Plastic bottles for beverages that hold less than 0.6 liters
- Beverage containers other than plastic bottles that hold less than 0.6 liters
- Information about the amount of plastic used in the takeaway containers and cups, as well as whether the takeaway containers, cups, and lids are made entirely or partially of plastic.
- Number of thin plastic carrier bags and thick plastic carrier bags, and how many of the thin plastic carrier bags have walls thinner than 15 micrometers and are needed for hygiene reasons, or are provided as primary packaging for bulk food.
Please note that you can only report packaging to the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency through NPA. If you are covered by other producer responsibilities and have other products that need to be reported to the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency, you need to do so using their e-service.
