From January 1, 2024, the municipalities are responsible for collecting packaging from households. After collection, the households’ packaging is transported to the municipality’s transfer station. At the transfer station, the material is distributed between the two approved producer responsibility organizations, who are then responsible for collecting their share of the collected packaging for further handling.
In order for Näringslivets Producentansvar to be able to collect it’s share, the transfer station needs to make a transport booking in the system NPA Logistik. Pick-up is to be booked when a full load is available for pick-up at the transfer station and according to the agreement regulating this, producer responsibility organizations are to pick-up material within seven work days from when the order is placed. However, pick-up can be handled prior to that during this period.
NPA Logistik opens for bookings on the first weekday after the holidays, i.e. January 2, 2024. To gain access to the system, the municipality need a signed an OLS agreement with Näringslivets Producentansvar. For municipalities that have not yet signed the agreement, booking for collection of material needs to be made manually.
