Watch the seminars from Almedalen
During Almedalen week, we held two seminars with Swedish Plastic Recycling and representatives from Återvinningsindustrierna and producers. Both occasions were recorded and the videos are now available on our YouTube-channel.
Future changes
The seminar with the headline: ”New ordinance, parallell development and a coming reform” focused on the changes of the producer and collecting responsibility. Main issues were requirements in the ordinance and how the work is to be followed up. The goal of the changes is increased collection and recycling, but how will it work? Listen to Helena Nylén, CEO at Näringslivets Producentansvar and FTI, Henrik Nilsson, CEO of Svensk Producentansvar, Ellen Einebrant, CEO at Återvinningsindustrierna and Erik Lindroth, Sustainability Director at Duni Group Sweden at the link below.
The Plastic Recycling Paradox
Together with Swedish Plastic Recycling, we held the seminar ”How to solve the Plastic Recycling Paradox”, about how the recycling industry will be able to adjust to producing recycled plastic raw material of higher quality. From 2030 there will be a law that every plastic packaging placed on the European market must contain recycled plastic raw material, but today the recycling industry mainly produces plastic products of low quality. Mattias Philipsson, CEO at Swedish Plastic Recycling, explains the plastic recycling paradox och what is needed for Sweden to reach their climate goals by making plastic a part of the circular economy. NPA refunds surplus packaging fees
As we approach the closure of the first half of 2025, the producer responsibility organisation Näringslivets Producentansvar (NPA) concludes that the invoiced packaging fees have exceeded the actual costs of collection and recycling. We are therefore refunding the surplus to our customers – in line with our non-for-profit business model.

Näringslivets Producentansvar introduces fossil-free transports
By the end of 2025, all transports within Sweden for which Näringslivets Producentansvar (NPA) is responsible will be 100 percent fossil-free. The decision is part of NPA's work to reduce climate impact and contribute to a more sustainable waste management.

Reply: producers should finance efficient collection, not household missorting
When Conny Udd and Jan Ridfeldt, CEOs of Tekniska Verken and Umeå Energi, argue that producers should replace sorted packaging waste, they miss a crucial principle: residual waste is a municipal responsibility. This is written by Henrik Nilsson, head of business development and community relations at Näringslivets Producentansvar, Henrik Oxfall, responsible for plastic issues at IKEM, and Mattias Philipsson, CEO of Svensk Plaståtervinning, in a reply in Aktuell Hållbarhet.
